Yet, UVA rays that hit your skin on a much deeper level, especially as you are much closer to the ozone layers, still penetrate the glass. In particular, for pilots and cabin crew wearing sunscreen is of huge importance. A recent study in JAMA Dermatology revealed that just 1h at 30,000 feet could expose pilots to the same amount of UV radiation as a 20-minute tanning bed session would.
